Travel grants
Think exchange is out of your reach? Think again! When you submit your application, you will automatically be considered for a range of travel grants that can make your exchange more affordable.
To be eligible for a travel grant, you must:
- have a course weighted average of greater than or equal to 65 (60–64.9 will be considered under exceptional circumstances)
- study overseas for a minimum of one semester/trimester (depending on your course)
Please note: there is no guarantee that you will receive funding. You must not rely on these grants to fund your exchange.

A$5000 travel grants are currently available for the following destinations:

Curtin Education Abroad – Successful applicants can receive up to $2,500 towards their Study Abroad expenses.

Students studying through CBS have the opportunity to be granted up to $4,000 towards their overseas study experience.

Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations
Each year, Curtin applies to the Australian Government for funding. These funds are allocated to Study Abroad students going on exchange to particular countries or universities.

Reverse Columbo Exchange Program
Applications for this program must be made directly to the Student Exchange Office by 30 April for Semester 2 and 31 October for Semester 1.

This grant is available to commerce, engineering, mass communication and some science students to study at Curtin’s Sarawak Campus in Miri, Malaysia. The grant is awarded to two students per semester, and includes:
· tuition fees at the Sarawak Campus—students don’t need to pay their regular fees to Curtin
· return economy airfare to Sarawak
· accommodation/maintenance allowance of RM 6,000 per semester (approximately A$ 2,000—exchange rate used is 1 AUD to 3 RM)
· medical check-up for your student visa
· student pass.
